Our homes tell a story. Sometimes a room that looks perfectly fine is still somehow off...and we can’t always put our finger on why. Sound familiar? That’s what we’re here for.
One focused hour, once a month. A small group of women who care about their homes and are curious enough to do something about it. A topic that’s specific, useful, and immediately actionable.
And did I mention, it’s free.
A GATHERWELL WORKSHOP SERIES
WHAT IT ISThe Design Hour is a monthly workshop series hosted by Gatherwell Lake Norman. Each session focuses on one room, one project, one corner of your home — and gives you real guidance you can take home and use that same day.
These aren’t lectures. They’re working sessions. Small enough that there’s time for your actual questions — the specific ones, not just the general ones. You’ll leave with something concrete. And you’ll do it alongside people who care about the same things you do.
That’s more than enough reason to show up.
COMING UPHere’s a look at what’s ahead.
JUNEYour entryway is either letting energy in or keeping it out. We’ll show you how to tell the difference — and what to do about it
COMING UPThere are five distinct approaches to a gallery wall. We’ll help you figure out which one actually belongs in your space — and why.
COMING UPLearn the layer-by-layer logic of great coffee table styling, and once you know the framework, you can make it yours in any room, season-by-season.
COMING UPYour home doesn’t stop at the front door. Upcoming sessions venture outside — garden design, planter styling, landscape lighting, and the spaces that bridge your indoors and out.
YOUR HOSTESSChristy Sharafinski
FOUNDER, GATHERWELL - INTERIOR DESIGNER
I’ve been doing this for 30 years. Not just talking about design — teaching it, applying it, walking through someone’s front door to see what a particular space needs, or sitting next to them as we chat about a photo of their living room and helping them see exactly what it needs.
For years, I taught Interior Design 101 to sold-out groups — color, texture, scale, and how to make it all work together. My four-week color workshop sold out in two days. Twice.
But here’s what I’ve learned: most people don’t need more information. They need someone to look at their actual space and say, “Here’s what’s working, here’s what isn’t, and here’s what to do next.”
What I’m good at is making the non-obvious feel suddenly clear. You walk in knowing something isn’t working. You just can’t name it. I can. And once you have the words for it, everything gets easier. This isn’t a repair job, that’s what happens when you take your car to the shop. No, this is an act of co-creation — you bring your space, your instincts, your life. I bring mine. What we build together is something neither of us could have gotten to alone.
If something in your life feels stuck — a relationship, a project, your health — Feng Shui says to look at your home first. Specifically, your entryway.
And by entryway, we mean all of it. The path from the street. What’s growing (or not) along the walk. What greets you before you ever touch the door. Most of us call that curb appeal and stop there. Feng Shui calls it the mouth of chi — and it has a lot more to say about your life than you might expect.
Your home is literally mirroring what’s happening in your life. Sometimes it’s subtle. Sometimes it’s surprisingly on the nose — a door that sticks, a path that’s overgrown, an entry that’s been overlooked for years, right alongside something in life that hasn’t moved either.
When we shift how things are set up in that space, things start moving again. Sometimes faster than we expect.
This workshop looks at the entryway from two angles — the energy it’s carrying and the design moves that support change. You’ll leave our time together seeing your own space differently. And with a few specific things to try the moment you get home.

This is a space to see your home — and maybe your life — a little more clearly. No judgment. Just your opportunity to join two people who love this work, knowing how powerful it can be.
"The minute you schedule your next session, the work has already begun. It doesn’t start when we sit down together. It starts the moment you commit."
A coach I’ve worked with for years told me that. The same is true here. Reserve your spot, and know the shifts have already begun.
